(C) Managing Classroom Procedures

During my student teaching at Greenleaf Friends Academy in Greenleaf, Idaho in the spring of 2016, my cooperating teacher and I used a daily board, where we wrote our condensed lesson plans for the day for the benefit of our students. I hope my students utilized this board so they know what the plan is for the day. Often, this eliminates lengthy transitions because the students know what is coming up next, and exactly what we are planning to work on. Having the lessons posted on the board also helps keep me focused, and helps me pace my lessons accordingly.
My students know where to look every day when they don't know what the date is, or if they're curious what we're going to be covering in class. This has saved us precious time when every minute counted in those rehearsals immediately leading up to the performance. Because I used this board consistently to communicate with my students, the expectations have been set for them and my students know what to expect from us. It is the same every day, and the kids can rely on that because I have set up my classroom consistently in that way.
